Who we are
The New Zealand Singapore Law Students’ Society (NZSLSS) is a student-run organisation bringing together Singaporean law students studying in New Zealand along with legal professionals working in both jurisdictions. We aim to foster community, create opportunities, and build long-term networks between both jurisdictions.
What we focus on
Building a connected cohort, sharing pathways back to Singapore, and creating touchpoints with practitioners who understand the New Zealand–Singapore legal connection.

President’s Message
New Zealand Singapore Law Students’ Society (NZSLSS)
It is my privilege to welcome you to the New Zealand Singapore Law Students’ Society. This society was created from a simple but compelling realisation: Singaporean law students studying in New Zealand often navigate their academic journeys, internship pathways and professional ambitions in isolation. For many of us, the route back home, including the requirements for RLT or Training Contract applications, the timelines involved and the process of understanding how to practise in Singapore as a New Zealand graduate, has often required us to gather information alone.
In my own experience, I spent a significant amount of time conducting personal due diligence, searching for resources and attempting to understand the steps that lay ahead. At the same time, I saw how transformative a well-connected overseas Singaporean student community could be. It became clear that students in New Zealand deserved the same. We needed an organisation that provides support, structure, guidance and a genuine sense of community. NZSLSS was established to fill this gap.
Our mission is to create a unified platform for Singaporean law students in New Zealand. We aim to provide reliable information, increase access to professional opportunities and build a network that operates both in New Zealand and in Singapore. I hope that this society will not only support students academically and professionally, but also strengthen the visibility and recognition of New Zealand trained law graduates within the Singapore legal landscape.
Looking ahead, I envision NZSLSS growing into an active and outward-facing hub. We hope to host events, collaborate with practitioners, connect students across universities and steadily build the institutional presence needed to open more doors for future generations of Singaporean students.
Thank you for being part of this journey at its beginning. Together, we can shape a society that uplifts, empowers and represents Singaporean law students in New Zealand with pride.
